Understanding account and mPIN lockouts – MAKE

To protect your account from repeated guessing, MAKE locks your account or your mPIN after too many wrong attempts.

Password lockouts

If you enter the wrong password several times in a row:

After 5 wrong attempts, your account is temporarily locked for 5 minutes. It unlocks automatically once the time is up.
After 6 wrong attempts, your account is locked until you reset your password.

mPIN lockouts

If you enter the wrong mPIN several times in a row:

The 1st and 2nd wrong attempts have no penalty.
The 3rd wrong attempt triggers a 30-second cooldown.
The 4th wrong attempt triggers a 2-minute cooldown.
The 5th wrong attempt triggers a 5-minute cooldown.
After 6 wrong attempts, your mPIN is disabled and must be reset before you can use it again.

You can still log in and use your account with your password while your mPIN is disabled; only mPIN-protected actions are blocked until you reset it.

Notifications

MAKE sends you an email and SMS whenever your account is locked or your mPIN is disabled, including a link to reset your password if it wasn't you.

Recovering access

If your account is locked, reset your password using the link in the notification, or wait for a temporary lock to clear on its own.

If your mPIN is disabled, go to Settings, then Security, then Reset mPIN. You'll need to enter your current account password to set a new mPIN.
